Collection Development

The Collection Development Department provides leadership for the development, management and evaluation of library information resources in all formats to support the Institute’s research, teaching and service missions. Responsibilities include development of comprehensive collection development policies, the strategic and equitable allocation of the Library’s $5 million materials budget across subject disciplines, coordinate and support the selection and liaison activities of the 16 Information Consultants who serve as subject librarians, chair the Information Resources Council (IRC), coordinate vendor relations, negotiations and training, analyze and assess library collections, and participate in cooperative collection development initiatives at the local, state, regional and national levels.
