Biographical/Historical Note

Phi Kappa Phi, Georgia Tech's oldest national honor fraternity, was introduced in 1914 by the initiation of ten faculty members with an additional two professors transferring from other college chapters. This exclusive honor society rewards students and faculty for their superior scholarship and good character. Not more than seven percent of each class may be invited to join the organization. Alumni may keep their memberships active.

Scope and Content Note

The records are primarily composed of letters written between 1914 and 1916, dealing with subjects such as meeting announcements, treasury reports, and compliments on establishing the new chapter. The early meeting minutes, 1914-1918, were recorded by hand in a bound notebook, with several invitations and announcements glued to the pages. Later meeting minutes were typewritten. The Catalogue of Phi Kappa Phi, a directory of every Phi Kappa Phi member in the United States, was published in the honorary society's thirtieth year, 1927.

The records are arranged alphabetically by folder title.
