Abstract:This collection is composed of a Georgia Tech football scrapbook and an edition of The Technique, Georgia Tech's student newspaper.

Biographical/Historical Note

Edward Bingham Madden was born on December 11, 1912 in North Carolina to Oscar E. and Carrie Lee Bingham Madden. He later moved to Alexandria, Louisiana with his family. Madden enrolled at the Georgia School (now Institute) of Technology in approximately 1930, studying civil engineering in the Co-op program. During his time at Georgia Tech, he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society, the Co-op Club, and Civil Crew, the honorary civil engineering society.

Later, he married Margaret Witherspoon, and the couple lived in Little Rock, Arkansas, while Edward was an engineer with the War Department.

Edward B. Madden died on August 5, 2000 in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas and was buried in Sunset Cemetery in Murphy, North Carolina.

Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of a Georgia Tech football scrapbook featuring the Tech football team of 1930 and an issue of The Technique dating from October 1931.
