Abstract:This collection includes an 1888 certification of a scholarship to Georgia Tech and an 1892 Tech commencement program.

Biographical/Historical Note

Aaron Reppard Colcord (October 23, 1869-July 16, 1971) was from Dodge County, Georgia. Colcord entered the Georgia School of Technology on October 3, 1888 with a scholarship. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering on June 22, 1892. During his time at Georgia Tech, he was the president of his class and picked white and gold to be the official school colors.

Colcord married Sally Bacon in 1895. He was a member of the Atlanta City Council in the early 1900s and president of the Colcord Lumber Company in Atlanta until his retirement. Colcord died at age 101, and was survived by two daughters, Marie Fort and Sarah Perry, 7 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
