Abstract:This collection includes photographs of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at Georgia Tech. These photographs document the social history of the fraternity during the mid-1940s.

Biographical/Historical Note

Alpha Tau Omega was founded in 1865 by Otis Allan Glazebrook, Erskine Mayo Ross and Alfred Marshall, at the Virginia Military Institute. Georgia Tech's chapter of ATO, the oldest fraternity on the campus, began before the first classes were held at the institution, when Isaac Hopkins, the first Tech president, approved it in mid 1888.

Scope and Content Note

This collection contains silver gelatin prints. Several photographs were once housed in a scrapbook, as evidenced by the cardboard backing and tape on the photograph edges. Due to the tape, the photograph edges have darkened; however, most of the photographs are in good condition with only minimal fading.
