Slides Relating to Georgia Tech, 1960s-1970s

Scope and Contents

The slides are primarily from the 1960s and are color photographs. Some of the slides are undated and unidentified, while others have descriptions written on the slides themselves. Included are pictures from the 75th Anniversary celebrations, the 1962 Convocation, the innauguration of Arthur Hansen, pictures of Tech's campus and Tech students, pictures of charts and graphs and other information, as well as pictures of research and manufacturing equipment.

Negatives Relating to Georgia Tech, undated

Historical Note

The Georgia Tech Engineering Experiment Station (now known as Georgia Tech Research Institute) was founded by the Board of Regents in 1919 and became active in 1934. Early research included projects trying to improve textile and ceramics. GTRI expanded throughout the 20th Century and began to receive federal contracts for research and development. As of 2009 GTRI employs over 1000 people and revenues top $180 million.

Scope and Contents

The negatives are primarily undated, unidentified, black and white pictures. They appear to be pictures from the early days of the Georgia Tech Enginnering Experiment station. The pictures are primarily of mechanical equipment and people doing research.
