John Dunn served in the 45th Infantry Division during World War II. His work in graves registration involved the selection of cemeteries and the burial of military casualties. Although accustomed to dealing with death, Dunn was in no way prepared for the sights he witnessed at Dachau.

John Dunn spent 31 years in military services and was a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, working in records management, at the time he was interviewed.
