Miguel Montesinos was a Major with an intelligence unit in the 7th Army at the time of the liberation. On April 29, 1945, while in transit to participate in the assault on Munich, his unit came upon the town of Dachau and heard for the first time of the existence of the concentration camp outside the city.

Montesinos describes his tour through the just-liberated camp and the "utter chaos" he observed during his brief time at Dachau.

Following World War II, Montesinos was a military attaché to the Dominican Republic and later served in the Korean War. At the time of his interview, he was a medical school administrator residing in College Park, Georgia.
