LIBRARY & RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Research Librarian/Subject Librarian, Library & Information Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, 1994 to present

• Provide assistance with searching free Library databases, Galileo, and gateway online databases. Conduct searches of hundreds of commercially available fee-based databases, covering nearly all research topics, going back to the 1970s or earlier. Vendors include Dialog, STN, and the Defense Technical Information Center (for classified and limited distribution reports).
• Provide in-depth reference and database search service to undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, researchers, and the general public.
• Educate library clientele through informal communication, formal learning initiatives, and course integrated instruction.
• Serve as Subject Librarian to GTRI and Electrical and Computer Engineering
• ECE Subject Guide
• Identify and evaluate print and electronic resources for addition to the library's collection in Subject Librarian areas.

DATABASE SEARCHING

Assist with or perform searches in the Georgia Tech Library's databases. Perform searches using online systems produced by vendors such as Dialog, STN, and the Defense Technical Information Center (for classified and limited distribution reports), that make available hundreds of commercial databases covering nearly all research topics. Coverage includes scientific, engineering, and business periodical and proceeding papers, technical reports, standards, newspapers, newsletters, government documents, dissertations, patents (both international and United States), and company, association and meeting directories (domestic and international). Most databases are either bibliographic with abstracts (many going back to the 1970s or earlier), full text, numeric, or directory databases. Examples of databases include Chemical Abstracts (complex Boolean search logic), DROLS classified and limited distribution defense technical reports, Energy Science and Technology, Science Citation Index, Meteorological and Geoastrophysical Abstracts, Biological Abstracts, Derwent World Patents, Aerospace & High Technology Database, chemical property databases, Inspec, NTIS, Ei Compendex, materials, agriculture, environment, pollution, management, and many others.
