Activities included general and chemistry specific reference assistance, bibliographic instruction, collection development and maintenance, faculty liaison and other projects as assigned.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Coordinated the administration of SciFinder Scholar and the Beilstein/Gmelin CrossFire databases including distribution of the client software, promotion of database use, database training, response to user inquiries and compilation of use statistics.
  • Partnered with a Chemistry Department faculty member to develop the Molecular Spectroscopy Archive web site. Developed the first of two planned archival sites in collaboration with Academic Press to provide access to Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy Supplementary Material.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Coordinated the CAS (Chemical Abstracts Service) On-line end-user searching program (1990-1997) that provided access to the Chemical Abstracts and Registry databases.
  • Participated as a member of a mission team that recommended, planned and implemented the installation of compact shelving in the Science Engineering Library to address space issues.

Assigned 50% as a Reference Librarian responsible for the information services (reference, instruction, collection development, faculy liaison) for users in the Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering Departments. Assigned 50% as a Catalog Librarian responsible for the organization, classification and creation of bibliographic records for science monographic materials in European languages.

Selected Accomplishments:

  • Facilitated the creation of a database that contained data about the Library's serial subscriptions. This database enabled the Library to identify and cancel over $500,000 in high inflating science and engineering serial subscriptions.
  • Elected as a member of the Team Leader Selection Committee charged with designing the process, interviewing and selecting persons to fill ten newly created leadership positions in the Library. Positions resulted from the Library's organizational restructuring process and all candidates for these positions were internal.
