Metadata Librarian

The Georgia Tech Library seeks a flexible, and innovative librarian to join the Technical Services Department as a Metadata Librarian. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Content, Access and User Services, this person will provide strategic and technical guidance on cataloging and metadata practices for the Georgia Tech’s Library’s physical and digital collections.  The Metadata Librarian will be responsible for providing original and copy cataloging for print and non-print materials in various formats and provide strategic leadership, consultation, training, and expertise in cataloging in a variety of metadata schemas for resources in all formats. This person will help provide long-term strategies to deal with MARC and non-MARC metadata initiatives and provide direction for staff in techniques and new methodologies, such as RDA and BIBFRAME. The Metadata Librarian is expected to serve on internal and external committees and collaborate with partners across the state.

In collaboration with leadership and the Georgia Tech Office of Human Resources (GTHR), the HR Business Partner is responsible for assessing and anticipating HR-related needs and developing integrated solutions. The position develops partnerships across HR to deliver value-added service to management and employees reflective of unit and Institute-wide objectives.

IT Support Professional I

The Georgia Tech Library IT Professional I position is the front-line technology support team member responsible for IT incident management, asset/inventory management, and software deployment within the Library IT department. This position will work with a team of Library ITSPs and partners to respond to technology support needs of Library services and employees, provide consultation and subject matter expertise to Library service owners, and make recommendations to continuously improve the Library's IT infrastructure and quality of customer service. This position will supervise IT student workers who assist with technology support needs. The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent customer service skills, and a desire for continuous learning and self-improvement.             

The Library IT department works collaboratively with all Library service areas to provide Web Services, Application Development, and IT Infrastructure support. The multi-unit team is responsible for managing the Library's online presence and strategy, creating and managing business applications, providing technology support for Library employees, analyzing and improving IT service delivery and managing IT-specific projects using AGILE methodology.
