Archives & Special Collections -  Research & Scholarship
Collects, preserves, exhibits, and makes available for research institutional archives, manuscripts, personal papers, organizational records, visual materials, memorabilia, rare books, and architectural collections. These materials primarily document the history of Georgia Tech and the activities of its faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Customer Support is the front line of communication for users. It provides helpful information, answers questions, and responds to service issues.

Audio Recording Studio -  Rooms & Spaces
Provides a way for audio experts and novices alike to produce high-quality recordings of music, voice-overs, or podcasts.

Bloomberg Database Access -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
Locate historical and real-time global market and economic data, news and historical and current financial information for public companies globally. Additionally, users can look up deals, government, corporate, mortgage, money market, municipal, preferred, equity, commodity, index, and currency issues or create spreadsheets and graphs.

Borrowing Materials -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
Get info on borrowing, renewing and returning physical items held by the Georgia Tech Library. Learn about our lending policies, overdue fees and borrowing from other libraries.

Classes -  Teaching & Learning
Georgia Tech Librarians and Archivists teach a variety of drop-in workshops and programming throughout the year. These classes are open to both the Georgia Tech community and the general public on topics ranging from Research Skills, Patents, Data Visualization, Origami, Graphic Design, Video and Audio Editing and more. Classes are taught both on-line and in-person.

Collaboration Rooms -  Rooms & Spaces
Dedicated study/meeting spaces for academic and scholarly activities. Each room is equipped with an LCD screen, laptop connection, PC, wireless presentation, whiteboards, keyboard and mouse.

Computing Areas -  Technology
Various computing areas, offering a wide range of software and multimedia services.

Course Reserves -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
Place books and multimedia on reserve for faculty-led classes. You can also use this service to request placement of personally owned materials on reserve or ask that the Library purchase reserve materials for faculty-led courses.

Databases -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
A list of 450+ electronic resources subscribed to by the library and freely available to the public. Resources can be sorted by Subject, by Type (i.e. articles, film, ebooks, etc.), by Vendor/Publisher (i.e. IEEE), or you may search for a specific resource. The list also includes new and trial resources.

Data Visualization Lab -  Technology
Supports campus research, instruction and learning activities. Librarians and staff provide research consultation, workshops, embedded instruction and other scholarly activities within and outside the Data Visualization Lab. Included is 24/7 access to visualization software and hardware in the High Performance Computing cluster, also located on the third floor of Crosland Tower.

Digital Learning Objects -  Teaching & Learning
This service provides consultations on incorporating Library content, digital learning objects, and Library-provided subscription media in courses using the current learning management system, Canvas. It includes, but is not limited to, Library-created Canvas materials, tutorial videos (either hosted on Mediaspace/Kaltura or other platforms), surveys, quizzes and assessments, streaming media, and open educational resources.

Dissertation Defense Room -  Rooms & Spaces
Dedicated to the defending and recording of Ph.D dissertation defenses. This service provides users the capability for recording a defense, video conferencing, and remote committee members.

Donations & Gifts -  Financial
The Georgia Tech Library benefits from donations of materials that support the teaching, learning, and research activities of the Institute as well as from monetary gifts from alumni, other individuals and organizations.

eJournals -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
Browse journals by subject, read and save articles, and monitor scholarly journals of interest to you via your desktop computer or  mobile device.

The Georgia Tech Library offers electronic payment options for fees, fines and donations.

Equipment Lending (Gadgets) -  Technology
This service provides technology items for loan to students, faculty and staff.

Events (Public Programming) -  Teaching & Learning
The Georgia Tech Library hosts scholarly events and programs that are free and open to the Georgia Tech community and public. Programs include author talks, symposia, researchers in conversation, film viewings, etc. These programs are often hosted in the Scholars Event Network, and the programs are streamed, recorded, and archived.

Planning, execution and logistical management of both internal and external events.

Exhibition Services -  Rooms & Spaces
Facilitates the development and installation of exhibits in Library spaces and in the Clough building. Service includes concept and design development of exhibit content in conjunction with Library partners.

Faculty Research Zone -  Rooms & Spaces
For both on and off-campus Georgia Tech faculty, providing a beautiful, peaceful environment to work, read, and have quiet discussions with their colleagues. The space is especially important to post-doctoral researchers and faculty, employees at GTRI, and researchers at remote Georgia Tech locations.

GIL Express -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
A resource-sharing service offered at all libraries of the University System of Georgia (USG), GIL Express provides access to all eligible circulating material at USG Libraries. It is available to all eligible Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff through remote requesting in the Georgia Tech catalog (Primo) as well as walk-up service at any of the other 25 institutions in the USG.

Government Information - Consultation & Training -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
The Georgia Tech Library is a member of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) of the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO). The vision of the FDLP is to provide government information when and where it is needed in order to create an informed citizenry and an improved quality of life. The Library selects all online material distributed by GPO and collects and retains documents relating to the Environmental Protection Agency, United States Patent and Trademark Office, and NASA as part of the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries Center of Excellence. INFODesk staff can handle many questions about government information; for more complex questions, the Government Documents Coordinator offers research consultations. Both in-service training to staff, as well as drop-in workshops for all users, are conducted periodically by the Government Documents Coordinator.

Graduate Student Community -  Rooms & Spaces
Georgia Tech Graduate Students have their own, BuzzCard accessible space in the Library. The Graduate Student Community is available for quiet study whenever the Library is open.

A student, faculty member or visitor’s first stop on their research journey and the portal to everything the Georgia Tech Library has to offer. Whether you need equipment, to learn your way around, to check out course reserves, or simply to ask a general question, this is where you start.

Innovation & Ideation Studio -  Rooms & Spaces
This low-tech studio environment is perfect for creative, messy brainstorming, in a group or by yourself. The large tables, work stools, and whiteboards are waiting for you to make a space where your ideas can take shape.

Instant Chat & Text Services -  Getting Help
Using instant chat and text, users can get free, in-depth assistance 24/7.

Instruction Support -  Teaching & Learning
Georgia Tech Librarians and Archivists teach more than 400 course-integrated workshops a year, touching nearly 11,000 students, faculty and staff. Librarians and Archivists can work with faculty to design learning activities for classes and lead tailored course specific workshops by request to support the curriculum. Librarians also offer custom workshops for departments or research groups. These workshops should be scheduled in advance and can be integrated into course syllabi or class projects. Classes can be hosted in your classroom, in library classrooms or online.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
Interlibrary Loan, or ILL, allows students, faculty and staff to request materials not owned by Georgia Tech from other institutions around the world. If items are not available from the Library, its electronic journal subscriptions, or the Emory Shared Collection, requests can be placed in ILLiad, the online interface you use to place your requests.

LENDS -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
This service physically and electronically delivers Georgia Tech Library collections materials to current faculty, staff, and graduate students. Items will typically arrive within two to three working days.

Use the Georgia Tech Library's online catalog to find scholarly and peer-reviewed articles, books and ebooks, journals, theses and dissertations, government documents, newspaper articles, music, films, video, patents, and more.

Library Classrooms -  Teaching & Learning
The central location for the majority of library workshops including: Multimedia, Data Visualization & Analysis, Archival Research, Patents, and classes on scholarly resources.

Students can reserve lockers for both short- and long-term use during library hours.

Lost in the Stacks -  Teaching & Learning
The research-library rock'n'roll radio show, broadcasting on WREK Atlanta 91.1FM, hosted by Georgia Tech librarians and archivists. Each episode features an hour of music, interviews, and library talk united by a common theme. You’ll hear indie rock, pop, alternative, new wave, and the occasional oddity between interviews with students, faculty, and librarians.

Media Scholarship Commons -  Rooms & Spaces
Supports campus research, instruction and technical communication. Provides campus users access to reservable video and audio recording studios with a control room, whisper booth, lightboard, and green screen technologies. The space also includes reservable post-production editing stations and a computing zone with multimedia software including the Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro and Pro Tools. The space is staffed by student experts and provides services and support for poster (wide-format) printing. Librarians provide a variety of multimedia workshops and consultation services throughout the year to support use of these technologies.

Open Access -  Research & Scholarship
Open Access involves making the peer-reviewed scholarly work you produce accessible, with no charge to the public. Ideally this arrangement includes as few re-use restrictions as possible. Click the link above to find out how you can submit your work or waive the policy.

OverDrive -  Finding & Borrowing Resources
OverDrive is the Library's platform for downloading and reading ebooks, including full-text popular reading titles. Borrow and read ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines using your phone or tablet.

Patents & Trademarks -  Research & Scholarship
As a Patent and Trademark Resource Center, the Library provides free patent and trademark-related training and research consultation to students, faculty and staff on campus, as well as inventors, entrepreneurs, artists and historians from the public around the state. Collaborating with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and stakeholders on and off campus, the Library creates various programs to meet community needs and provides coordination and scheduling of the virtual assistant program for inventors. Additionally, the Library provides a dedicated Patents and Trademarks space on the Grove Level of Price Gilbert for secure and private conversation.

Printing -  Technology
B&W and color printing is available throughout the Library. Poster printing in available in the Print Studio which houses two wide-format plotters capable of printing in 24-inch, 36-inch and 42-inch widths of any length.

Copyright or author rights concerns, or questions about scholarly communication issues? Assistance is available with the Library’s subject matter experts. The service is available to individuals or groups, and is offered on both a drop-in and appointment basis.

The Georgia Tech Library provides a wealth of essential resources to find information on research topics quickly. These guides are updated periodically by subject matter experts, so new information is always available.

retroTECH -  Technology
retroTECH engages students and faculty in experiential learning related to digital archives and the histories of hardware, software, and people involved in technology. The Library's retroTECH team develops course-integrated learning opportunities, conducts research consultations, and coordinates events and showcases, both within and beyond the retroTECH lab.

Scholars Event Network -  Rooms & Spaces
The Scholars Event Network is an integrated system of spaces, services and software to co-design, market, convene and archive interdisciplinary scholarly events for the Georgia Tech research and teaching communities. It includes the Scholars Event Network Theater, which hosts events, lectures and symposia, all of which are recorded and archived for later public viewing.

Science Fiction Lounge -  Rooms & Spaces
The Science Fiction Lounge includes the circulating items in the Georgia Tech Science Fiction Collection, one of the largest in the Southeast. Originally formed from the donated personal collection of School of Literature, Media and Communication professor Irving "Bud" Foote in 1998, it has grown since that time to include thousands of science fiction works and criticism for research and leisure reading. The collection also includes significant periodicals where many science fiction writers have been featured over the years, such as Fantasy & Science FictionAsimov's, and FemSpec.

SMARTech -  Research & Scholarship
SMARTech, Georgia Tech's digital repository, is tasked with collecting, curating, preserving, and providing access to unique digital content of enduring value to the Institute and its mission, including Georgia Tech scholarship and research. SMARTech contains more than 58,000 scholarly works, including more than 22,000 Georgia Tech theses and dissertations.

The Georgia Tech Library features options for both collaborative work and quiet study throughout the building. Please note the sixth and seventh floors are quiet work spaces.

Subject Experts -  Getting Help
The Library's subject experts offer advice on ways to research topics and assistance with verification of bibliographic citations. These librarians also provide library orientations, general and subject-specific library classes in your area of expertise, and assistance in developing research assignments. Consultation is available to individuals or groups, and is offered on both a drop-in and appointment basis.

Teaching Studio -  Rooms & Spaces
Designed as a space to support teaching and pedagogy on campus. Librarians, alongside our campus partners can work with faculty to integrate library resources and educational technologies into courses and research. Faculty can receive support in the Teaching Studio to create digital learning objects, record presentations, create instructional videos, and design class activities. The studio includes a video recording space equipped with green screen, consultation areas, a prototyping station, and a specialized classroom lab.

Textbook Affordability & OER -  Teaching & Learning
Affordable learning and open educational resources are an important part of teaching at Georgia Tech. Previously, faculty placed print monographs and course packs on hold for students as part of the reserves system. In the digital age, however, the range of available Library services includes ebooks, journals, streaming media, and tutorials. As such, the Library seeks to support each option and works to reduce textbook costs by providing the best-quality materials for faculty and students.

Theses & Dissertations -  Research & Scholarship
The Georgia Tech Library maintains the software students use to submit their theses, acting as a collaboration interface for Graduate Office staff, students, and advisors. The Library also hosts, curates, provides quality control for, and allows public access to the approved theses via the use of the institutional repository, SMARTech.

Video Recording Studio -  Rooms & Spaces
The Video Recording Studio houses production equipment that can be configured for variety of student and faculty uses (interviews, student media projects, pre-recorded lectures). The reservable space includes lightboard video recording, two black magic broadcast cameras, and recording backdrops such as green screen.
